A Scripture-first introduction to the Sabbath, new months, and annual appointed times.
Begin with Leviticus 23
Scripture calls these times the appointed times of Yahweh. They begin with the weekly Sabbath and continue through the annual cycle of Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Weeks, Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles.
This page is an educational guide rather than a claim that every calendar question is simple or undisputed. Where modern calendar systems differ, Covenant Roots will distinguish the biblical text from later calculation and tradition.
The Appointed Times at a Glance
Weekly Sabbath
The seventh day: holy time for cessation, worship, delight, and covenant remembrance.
Passover
Remembrance of deliverance from Egypt and the scriptural pattern of redemption.
Unleavened Bread
Seven days recalling Israel’s departure and calling Yahweh’s people to sincerity and truth.
Firstfruits
The first yield presented to Yahweh in gratitude and hope for the harvest to come.
Weeks
A harvest appointment counted from Firstfruits, later known as Shavuot or Pentecost.
Trumpets
A day of trumpet blasts and sacred assembly on the first day of the seventh month.
Day of Atonement
A solemn day of humility, cleansing, and atonement described in Leviticus 16 and 23.
Tabernacles
A seven-day celebration of provision, ingathering, and dwelling in Yahweh’s presence.
Calendar dates are coming
A dated calendar requires choosing and clearly documenting a calculation method. Until that research is published, this page intentionally provides the biblical framework without presenting disputed dates as settled fact.
